    Hi madison423.

Gabapentin (Neurontin) is prescribed for various reasons. It is used in Neurology to treat spasticity and nerve pain, in the mental health field, for seizures, for helping with Fibromyalgia, and more.

I have had 3 of my Drs. offer to prescribe Gabapentin but I said no. Then in January this year I had a total knee replacement and Gabapentin was prescribed for nerve pain and muscle spasms for after surgery. It was quite helpful.

Currently my Primary Care Physician is prescribing gabapentin as I found it it greatly helped with Spasticity (muscle spasms, stiffness and the pain it causes). As far as nerve pain - I rarely deal with the symptoms you have - Gabapentin helps with the nerve pain I do have but doesn't completely take it away.
