I am a 30 year old male, diagnosed with MS a little over a year ago. My initial symptoms were dizziness with an odd electric feeling that would pulse through my head, right arm and right leg. In the subsequent year I have settled into a routine of occasional numbness on the right side of my face, tingling in my right leg/foot, and occasional stiffness in my right arm.
However, I have recently developed some new symptoms that seem to be a bit different. It started 3 weeks ago with fatigue well beyond what i generally experience. I fell asleep on a sunday while I was in the middle of typing an email. This is not unusual for many people, but I had literally only taken 1 nap in my entire life prior to this.
It then progressed the next day to an odd tingling feeling in my chest, right above my heart. It is hard to really put it into words, but I would compare it to the feeling that you get when you are really nervous about something. This was also accompanied by losing my breath with very little exertion. (However, in thinking about it i think this symptom actually began prior to the feeling in my chest)
I went to the ER, where they gave me an EKG and did blood work, which all came out normal. They were able to compare it to an EKG I had a little over a year ago as well, and found "no significant changes." They put a 24-hour heart monitor on me and referred me to a cardiologist to follow up.
The cardiologist said the results of my 24-hour monitor were normal but ordered an echo test to check the structure of my heart, which also came back normal.
However, a day or two later i started experiencing pain & tightness in my chest, numbness and pain in my left arm, tingling in my jaw, pain on the side of my neck, and even pain in my ear. I have not previously had any MS symptoms on the left side of my body.
I felt like I might be having a heart attack, so I went back to the emergency room. Another EKG came back normal, and they sent me on my way. I called my cardiologist and he ordered a stress echo to rule out any coronary artery disease since every other test has been negative. I am set to take the test on monday.
In the mean time my shoulder, arm, neck, upper back and ear have taken turns aching/tingling/going numb. My chest has felt mostly tight at times, kind of in a straight line across my pectorals, but sometimes just on on the left side of my chest. I have also experienced a mild burning sensation in a straight line underneath my pecs.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It obviously sounds like a heart issue, but these tests keep coming back normal, and it is fairly unusual for a 30 year old person to have clogged arteries at this point.
