Anyone else? LEFT SIDE NUMB even Down there

So I'm female 31 and have been having problems since birth of my son who just turned 3. It started with fatigue that just makes me never want out of bed. I also had the heavy legs and falling. Night Sweats when i'm a person who is comfortable in 80 degrees normally.

So for 2.5 years went to PCP who told me it was a relapse of mono 10 years later??? Which I didn't buy but figured I'd try the meds anyway. Over and over again like 7 times. Every time it was its a mono relapse. Then my daughter was born c-sec. Took it extra slow thinking it was my fault I over did it before. The fatigue was even worse. The house could have burned down I didn't care.

So then I went back to the doc refused the mono dx and asked for hormones to be checked. Turns out i make less than .05% progesterone. Thinks I need to wait to see if its menopause since I'm still having periods but a lot of symptoms match that so i wait. While I'm waiting for the magic menopause fairy to come down and bestow me with her hatred. I start to have double vision. ITs vertical and only for two minutes or so along with blurry vision same amount of time.

Then a few weeks later my left side becomes numb. I have problems walking from time to time. Mainly its the worst in my left hand and foot. I have had problems opening with that hand from time to time but now its really bad. It comes and goes in severity. I also have depth perception problems because of it. The left eye has hurt off and on nothing really bad just kinda aches.

Now 2 weeks from the numb feeling it has also increased in arm and leg and the girlie parts only on the left. Yes even inside! I have seen the Neuro 2 weeks ago. So far i have some slight inflammation to left optic nerve, lack of signal to right eye. I have a few foci lesions but they aren't classic MS more like stroke or migraine he said in upper front. I'm waiting on blood work and a spinal MRI to come back so waiting. Just wondering what could this be and if anyone else has had this happen?

I had several small symptoms like balance issues & severe fatigue. Nobody really caught what it was.

My first real flare that finally led to my dx was going numb on my right side. It was only in my torso, feeling came back but I was left with bad back spasms.

They did several MRIs. Lumbar was fine, brain showed lesions but I had a history of migraines so I was skeptical, but then they found some small areas in my cervical spine. The thoracic spine revealed a larger lesion in the cord. I believe this is what caused me to go numb & now causes my spasms.

It's good they are doing the MRIs and they should help to answer a lot of questions. Good luck!

      Re: left side numbness

I never suspected MS at all, just went to a neurologist because of severe migraines that were no longer responding to OTC meds and lasting for over a week at times. I thought my numbness and pain were related to pinched nerves. After several follow up visits he finally told me that I'd either had a stroke or had MS. I'd never realized just how much worse my numbness was on my left side, and all of my brief Trigeminal Neuralgia episodes were on the left side of my face. I haven't had two episodes clearly separated by time and both of my lesions are in the same area, so I don't qualify for an MS diagnosis just yet. I wouldn't think that what you're experiencing would be related to migraines. It's possible to experience numbness and even paralysis on one side due to a rare form of migraine but that would resolve after the migraine is over.

        Hi Smittyditty,

I'm sorry you are having these problems.

I woke up one morning and my right foot was numb. Over about a weeks time the numbness worked its way up my leg and then started on the left side. My feet felt like they were in cement. And YES, it went into my groin area. I couldn't even feel myself go to the bathroom or wipe. That's when I went to my PCP and the fun began.

After doing research I realized that I had a lot of sx early on in my life just never enough to put 2and2 together.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for. At least you will know.

        Good Luck!

Thank you all for responding. It makes me feel like there is hope for something to show up on this last MRI.

I don't think its migraine lesions either. I had migraines growing up. The kind that make you throw up and see auras..but they run in the family and we get less and less as we age. The last time i had one was probably 4 years ago. I was having mild headache for 7 months constantly day after day since my daughter was born.

I'm not sure but i think it had to do with my eye problems. Before i might have 3 headaches in a year. So they were mild and i don't believe it was big enough to leave a lesion although i don't know. Would lesions from the real migraines years ago still be there?

Anyhow as for the bathroom issues i already have that as well. He is thinking its Myasthenia gravis but we are waiting on blood work. I however am doubtful since i have this numbness. I haven't read it causes that. I also don't have the droopy eyelid I thought would be consistent with my ocular problems.

I feel like I'm on a roller coaster. ITs 4 steps forward in symptoms worsening and 2 steps back.

            Smittyditty,

I hope your Neuro can help you with the numbness. You seem too young to have to deal with that. Stay strong, hun, and I hope this gets resolved!!

Hello! My first flare was one-sided numbness in my private area down my sciatic nerve into my foot. Thought it was a sports injury, lumbar MRI was normal though. Sports doc did prescribe a round of oral prednisone, and my numbness decreased significantly. Some of it is permanent, darn it.

Sounds like your puzzle is coming together, hope you find answers soon!

Thank you I will update as soon as I know. I appreciate the concern. It started in my hand and went to my foot then to the girlie parts. The girlie parts were numb for 3 days and now are back..but like everything i'm sure it will come back.

Ok so far all blood work is negative. I went to optho-neuro for double vision. I was told it was due to exophoria where my eyes tend to relax towards the wall. The thing is I think its really an exotropia that is developing. The two other opthamologists that noticed it happen was only with one eye the right. It only recently has started with the left.

So that explains the headaches. I have had an MRI all the way down to the lumbar and nothing else significant. The numbness did for the most part go away. I even walk fine now no limp. The numbness will sometimes come back but its gone for the most part. My nipple on the left side is still numb but right now I think I'm out of an episode.

Still waiting any other further findings. Have an EMG? scheduled with a neuro muscular doctor on the 18th. My PCP thinks MS even though I haven't fully decided so at least someone is on my side. I'll keep you updated.

Good luck with your EMG/nerve conduction smittyditty. When I had mine all I could do was laugh when the 'shocks' were turned up. The guy doing it couldn't believe it, until I told him that I'd touched the electric fence at home so often that what he was doing to me, was 'nothing'.

The waiting part is truly the worst part of the diagnosis thing. I'm also a limbolander and as time goes on, my symptoms become more and more pronounced. We joke that by the time I get to the Neurologist he should be able to tell just by looking at me LOL.

                    Best wishes

                    Poppy

Oh Poppy you poor thing. lol.. I am already going to the neurologist an MS specialist. I was progressing pretty fast with that last relapse but then it all went 60% away. So I kinda feel ya. I thought bathroom problems, walking problems, and a half sided numbness would be enough..lol guess you never know.
