    World Turned Upside Down

I met with my neuro Monday then had a subsequent MRI yesterday. I went back to Neuro today for results. As I expected my MRI of brain and C-spine were stable.

My neuro was honest and said he was truly at a loss. We talked about progression with a stable MRI which he agreed was possible.

He did offer a referral to a Neuro in Houston which I politely declined. I told him after all the tests I have had I refuse to see another doc. I reassured him I was comfortable with him and would much rather him tell me he was at a loss than throw meds at me. He said there is no doubt I have MS but he is concerned there may be something else going on along with it. Aren't I the lucky one!?

All that being said he ordered a CPK test and said he may do a muscle biopsy to rule out a muscular disease. The biopsy will depend on the CPK test.

So, needless to say I am now worried. I have been concerned about my MS from time to time but never worried. I think my MS is progressing. Does anyone have ANY other ideas? Any suggestion? I am totally at a loss.

Waydownsouth, I'm glad you found a good neuro that you trust. But - I suggest reconsidering your refusal of a 2nd opinion.

Have another set of eyes see what they can see. Just b/c you have another doc look at your records/tests doesn't mean you have to switch your care.

I recommend Maxine Messinger MS Clinic.

I agree on the getting a second opinion. I saw 3 neuro's within 2 months. Toom is right, a second pair of eyes... Have to do what you have to get the care you need. Best of luck to you~

I agree a second set of eyes is a good idea. I recently needed to do that and it gave me peace of mind that I wasn't dealing with something more than ms.

I absolutely third the previous two opinions. Take you neuros advice and go see the other neuro...it is obviously a specialist.

I have had neuros refer me to other neuros because it was beyond their scope of knowledge. I would be grateful that he was honest and forthright.

You can still keep your current neuro and do a consult with the other.

            Good Luck--Katie

I guess I should have mentioned my current neuro is my
4th and by far and away the best. Including the two so called "Specialists" I saw. Every one of them put me through the same tests as the other. I have given the second opinion a chance. The down side to seeing another doctor is he/she will have their "Opinion" and it could be in complete contradiction to what you have now. Thereby starting a completely different set of problems. No thanks.

I am not being critical of the suggestions, I appreciate them, and under different circumstances I would be good with the second opinion. Just not this time. Now if he dx me with some mind numbing disease to go along with my MS the circunstances would change.

I truly hope you get the answers and resolution after all of that. Having two serious conditions can be complicated and stressful. I pray there is nothing else going on. Good luck.
