I just had my Vit. D checked for the first time. My results came out at 15, suppose to be 30 - 60. Will be starting Vit. D. My granddaughter keeps coming up very very low too.
Her allergy Dr. and the staff were researching. They said Vit. D has something to do with MS. So now I am worried about my 10 yr old grandaughters future. Will she end up with MS???SgrammieD

Anyway, your concern about your granddaughter and MS...My research mostly said that the entire population, both adults and kids, are testing quite low for D these days because we don't spend near enough time in the sun anymore. We no longer work out on the farm or in big gardens and the kids don't play outside as much in "the computer age!!" I wouldn't worry about MS unless other MS symptoms showed up. Take care!Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth. Unknown

Hi all,
I first had my level checked about 2 years ago and it was 20. My doctor had me take 1000 IU per day. After 6 months it was only up to 32. She seemed okay with that, but I am not. I've been reading a lot, and most of what I read say that optimal levels are 50 to 60. So I started taking 2000 per day. I am going to get rechecked soon..if I have to up it again, I will. Even if it doesn't help me with my MS, it is so necessary for general good health. And like other posters said, we just aren't out in the sun enough to get what we need.Dx 06/07

I'll be picking mine up today. Around here it seems if you're low they give you 50,000IU a week for several months. The nurse said besides this large dose I should take 2000-3000IU daily. That seems like a lot. I start PT again today so I'll also ask her about it.Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth. Unknown

Things have been hectic and stressful these last couple days! My husband's ex-mother-in-law is staying at our house for a couple days...weird!!!!!!!! We get along fine tho and she's here to spend time with my stepson (he's 28). Anyway, the more stressed I get the more stiff and rigid I get.
I finally started 50,000IU of Vitamin D3...I have 3 months of it to take. I hope it has some positive effect on me! I also went to my first day of PT for my spasticity this AM. Nice lady...she is going to try to get a standing machine for me and help me get the right w/c cushion too. I'll have two MS specialists to work with me and I'll go twice a week.
I am thinking about dropping my baclofen from 20mg 3x a day to 10mg 3x...I'll do it slowly over a couple of weeks. I had to do it before when they upped my baclofen and I got more rigid. That was lastyear and my PT then was the one that mentioned that I should try it (lowering it) and I did get less stiff then. We'll see. How are you and yours?

I have no life experience. Our dog and cat have never been tested...
There is no "for sure" when it comes to MS, so please don't think that she will get MS.

Vitamin D
Mine tested low but they only put me on 1000 U daily. B 12 was Very low, had to do daily shots then get retested. I really do not spend much time in the sun, am fair skinned and burn. But I live in FL so makes me wonder. If I lived in Seattle I could understand, but just doing errands I get blasted by the sun.
