If you are a dog lover I highly recommend A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron. 
It is written from the dog's point of view and chronicles the lives he leads as a feral dog, beloved house pet, search and rescue dog and finally back once again with his favorite boy Ethan. While uplifting at times, it also had me reaching for the tissue box.
