Ingredients
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup chunky peanut butter
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
1 In a bowl cream together shortening, peanut butter, and brown sugar, beating until mixture is light and fluffy.
2 Beat in egg; stir in flour, baking soda, and salt.
3 Form Tablespoonfuls of dough into balls, transfer to baking sheets, and with fork tines, flatten, making a crosspatch pattern.
4 Bake at 400 degrees 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden.
