    Ground Flax seed

I have some ground flax seed, which I keep in the refrigerator, as is recommended. I believe it goes rancid, or something, if it is not?

However, this evening, I noticed that my ground flaxseed was inadvertently left out all day. (About 12 hours.)

Will that affect its nutritional value? Is it OK to still use it, or should I discard it?

Yep, ground flaxseed goes rancid if kept at room temperature. Rancidity begins even before the flaxseed starts to taste bad. However, a 12-hour stretch out of the refrigerator isn't likely to pose a problem, except perhaps in hot summer weather.

That's my take on it, anyway.
