    Possible to get enough Acetyl L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid in food rather than ?

    Is it possible to get enough Acetyl L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid in food alone rather then taking a supplement? I'm asking because lately I seem to be more sensitive to things and don't want to dp anything to make things worse somehow. I am still in limbo land , with 3 lesions, white matter and low blood pressure resp rate so am trying to be careful on what I take, I know something needs to be done though because my thinking has gotten really bad from all of this, any advice on how to eat enough of these foods to see if I can notice a difference ? or should I just start off with a very low dose?

    I don't think you would get enough in food to really make a difference. For example, I take 1,000 mg of acetyl L-carnitine, which is what I need to alleviate fatigue. A 3-ounch piece of steak has about 80 mg., so you'd have to eat 12.5 pieces of steak daily to get the same amount that I take. (Three ounces of chicken only has 3 mg.)

    Try starting off with a lower dose and see if you can tolerate it, then increase slowly if you're able to. Good luck! I hope it works for you.

    Cut aspartame from my diet in 2012 and my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Interesting!
    Alpha Lipoic Acid (200 mg) + Acetyl L-carnitine (1,000 mg) = No more fatigue for me!

      Beef is seems to be a really good source of Acetyl L-carnitine.

      Also;
      You body produces some acetyl L-Carnitine, but the amount is small

      So to me the natural question is what foods increase the body’s production of Acetyl L-carnitine?

      alpha lipoic acid
      is found in almost all foods, but slightly more so in kidney, heart, liver, spinach, broccoli, and yeast extra

          I just take the 1,000 mg capsule. They are big, aren't they! But I pop it down with a handful of my other pills with either grape juice or yogurt, which helps everything go down better.

          Good luck. I hope you get the great results I have from these supplements. They've given me my life back.
