All of this posting and replying, yet there are no verifiable levels of your vitamin D. I get mine tested about every 3-6 months. Only a few responders, actually know their levels and take a maintenance dose of 'D'. This is not something to treewat like a 'headache'. You need to get levels and track them like a scientist. Good luck

My d levels started at 10 in 2011, 24 in 2012 after being on 50,000 rx, and this past March it was 18.

If I was at 18ng/mL, I would be getting some answers from my 'doctor'. I use these quotes, sarcastically. What do you mean you are taking 50,000iu's and you are at 18ng/mL ?
You do know that your numbers should be above 50ng/mL. I would work very hard to get those numbers corrected. Good luck

I will not raise my levels o n my own until I see my Dr. I also have to be careful with my calcium because I do not want that to get higher.

Whoa Jerry! I think its time to back off on this one. You would work to get your numbers up and I would work to get my numbers up but acaverly obviously has a different situation going on. If 50,000 IU's of vitamin D only raised the level to 18 then something abnormal is going on that's waaaay beyond our ability to understand or judge.

Plus acaverly has an issue with high calcium that isn't normal and that has to be taken into account. Taking a lot more vitamin D can cause other problems that are also waaaay beyond our ability to understand so it sounds like that would be a really bad idea.

The normal things that you or I would do don't seem to apply to acaverly. So its probably time to stop with the medical advice and let acaverly's doctors handle this one. Vitamin D has already been tried and it doesn't seem to be the answer. I think the best thing we can do is to encourage acaverly to follow up on things that seem like they're getting overlooked like a parathyroid problem. And that one's for the specialist to take care of.

I agree with you MSer102. I am just reacting to the post that said the vitamin D levels were at 18 ng/mL. I hope that acaverly's medical team figures out the problem. As always, I feel that I would be remiss if I didn't stress that vitamin D levels should not be 'dismissed' or ignored. If there is another physical problem, that's between the doctor and patient. Good luck
