I met with my MS specialist for the first time this morning. He recommended that I try 1000 mg Acetyl L-carnitine and 500 mg Magnesium Oxide. I think.... The Vitamin Shoppe only has Magnesium Oxide in 400mg, which made me start questioning my notes. After searching around a while, I found a couple of comments that Oxide is "insoluble and not absorbable". So, now I'm wondering did he actually say "Oxide" or maybe something else such as "citrate", "gluconate". I have left a msg for the doc, but would be interested in other comments, especially if he did say Oxide. Thank you!!

I think perhaps the doctor was trying do "his/her" best by trying to recommend a supplement....finally instead of a drug.
If we knew what your objective is; spasticity or constipation, we could recommend the appropriate form of Mg?
Oxide is an insoluble form and would help w constipation and citate, glycinate would help w spasticity, blood sugar metabolism,...NutritionTara
