How much is too much Vit D?

    The neurologist (MS specialist) I saw a few weeks ago recommended that I take 5,000 to 6,000 IU daily of D3. (I was taking 2,000 IU daily at the time.) I doubled my dosage since I also get Vit. D in my multi-vitamin and my calcium supplement, and I take each dose morning and evening.

    A few years ago, I was tested and my Vit. D was very low. I also had to take the 50,000 IU weekly dose for 12 weeks. I haven't been tested since then, but this neurologist I saw was talking about how important Vit. D was to people with MS. (Even though I haven't been formally diagnosed yet, he was recommending things to me as if I have been. He seems to think it's just a matter of time, especially with the recent ON diagnosis.)

    Cut aspartame from my diet in 2012 and my symptoms have slowly disappeared. Interesting!
    Alpha Lipoic Acid (200 mg) + Acetyl L-carnitine (1,000 mg) = No more fatigue for me!

      Regarding a good dairy free milk for on top of cereal, I suggest Almond Milk.

      It's not real milk, but does taste alright.
      After many, many years, I'm also eliminating dairy.

      Almonds have protein and are not a bean like soy.

      I've been pouring it on my rice cereal for a week and like it.
      (Oh, and I'm eliminating wheat, too.)

      So far, so good!

        Vit D (and A) are stored in the liver...hence cod "liver" oil contains vit D.
        So, yes, we can overdose. And the toxicity would occur in the liver.

        However, researchers are realizing the great benefits from vit D and have recommended higher levels to improve our health.

        To date my pt. highest level was 133ng/dl, they did experience some muscle changes. Is there a connection with vit D?...not sure at this point.

            I just found out that Vitamin D is a fat soluable vitamin.
            It should be taken with a full meal. I too was a bit low, I guess I wasn't spending enough time out side in the sunshine. I have learned to incorporate my supplements with full meals, not being a picky eater. I eat more vegetables and fruit, fish,grass fed beef and less junk food.
