Weightloss Checkin Group: Weighin for 10/22/15

Hi Everyone. Oh my, I just read that we are almost ready for daylight savings time to go off which I think it said will occur on Oct. 31. It is a reminder of just how short the days are getting to be. I hope none of you are plagued with seasonal affective disorder which is so common. The lack of light truly can affect mood. Some people add therapeutic lights to chase away the gloom. A caveat. Appetite can also be affected when one feels down in the dumps. It is best to keep fresh fruits and veggies available for times when food cravings are present. Keep all of the high cal, high carb, high sugar and high salt foods out of the house. Your waistline will thank you.

I’m delighted to say I lost another pound which was beyond my expectations. I thus weigh 114.5 and will try to lose half a pound again this week.

Agate, So sorry to miss you again this week. I hope everything is going well.

Mamabug, good for you for losing. The most important thing is that you did not go up. I hope you have a wonderful vacation. Give some thought to portion control since you will probably be eating in restaurants. Maybe the break in routine will help spur you on when you return.

Hsmaldo, Excellent loss! Good move, your cutting down on the creamer. I hope you came from the Indian restaurant unscathed! Hate to say it but I love Indian food. That is very good that you are logging your calories. It can be a pain but it forces one to face the truth about what’s going into one’s mouth. I applaud you making small changes. Good luck.

Poohb3ar, it was great to hear from you recently. I do hope all is well.

Portia, so sorry to miss you again this week. I hope we hear from you soon.

Msgijo, sorry about your gain especially after having a good week with more exercise. With accomplishing that yard work I am surprised you did not lose. I trust this was a fluke and you will see the scale go down this week. Keep the faith.

Abidingjones, that is an excellent loss but I am so sorry it is under such miserable circumstances. I do hope you are better. Dental problems are the worst. I have two cavities I have to have filled next week and I am dreading just that which is nothing compared to what you are going through. Blessings.

For those who may have an interest in joining our dedicated group, our members each have their own personal methods of weight loss. Some are on Weight Watchers, some on Atkins for example and some just cut calories. I personally lost quite a lot of weight in the beginning using Atkins and then just cut portions while eating everything. The method is not the most important thing, it is staying focused and following the plan.

We post weight loss, gain, stayed the same, from Thursday to Thursday and have been doing so for thirteen years. We are truly dedicated to get rid of those pesky pounds and keep them off. You don’t have to state your actual weight. It’s a matter of choice.

    Tip For The Week:

Dr. Oz says, “take a 30-second break in the middle of your meal. Evaluate just how hungry you still are before getting back to your food.” This can be more helpful than it sounds. Too often we just keep chomping away as though we were starving. It is helpful to realize we are no longer as hunger as we think we are.

    Weight loss Results for 10-15-15:

    Total Loss:

6 pounds by four members. Wonderful! I knew we could do it. This was more proof that it can be done. We will do it again!

    Total Gain:

1,1 pounds by one member. Congratulations for reporting. You are taking the process of losing weight seriously. Also, reporting gains serves as a warning to self and others. May we all have a good week.

    Stayed the same:

0 members. As we know, staying the same truly is success, especially for those who are maintaining. Just keep remembering it is the time before the next loss if you have more to lose. Also staying the same is a signal that you are eating the right amount to maintain your losses.

3761.4 is the total weight loss for the past 13 years. We have hit a new milestone. We now have less than 250 pounds to reach two tons. That is truly awesome.

Hi all. Thinking that Karen must be physic - she always picks tips that relate to at least one of us, and she predicted a loss for me this week ( I thought that my pattern was to gain for a couple of weeks before another loss). BUT I did loose some weight

    10/19 135.1
    10/22 134.5

    Lost 0.6 pounds

Still say my weight does what it wants to do tho ...

      I can't believe I haven't posted here in nearly a month. I can't report any weight lost--still at 116--but I really am trying harder.

I've been busy with too many appointments I had to go to--lab work, flu shot, neurologist, MRI, and physical therapy sessions for my weak and painful left leg. Arranging these and getting to and from them has kept me busy, and the flu shot meant some down time while I slept it off (aching and tired feelings of feverishness and of course a sore arm).

I'm recovering from all of this but it's so true about how much of a downer the holiday season can be.

At times like this the temptation is to reach for the nuts, the crackers or even cookies. Or to dip into the peanut butter.

Congratulations to anyone who has lost some weight. msgijo, 0.6 pounds lost is an achievement.

If we have MS, our muscles are often not up to the job of supporting us in the expected ways. It seems to be important not to burden our bodies with excess weight. They have enough to do just dealing with the problems created by MS.

I have a feeling that some of my left leg problems will be helped if I could drop 5 or 10 pounds though the PT is helping too.

Down 1.1 lbs from 212.1 to 211 this week. I made it through the Indian buffet--which was AMAZING! I just took very small portions the first time through and then the 2nd time, took only those dishes that I REALLY loved. I watched what I ate over the weekend and despite having so many goodies and parties at work this week, have avoided them all so far!

This weekend though I have a ladies retreat. And there will be FOOD! So much good food! And desserts and candy! I am going to enjoy it and not worry about trying to lose weight this week--but I WILL focus on not overeating to the point where I am uncomfortable. So I will still be mindful of what and how much I eat, but I'm going to enjoy the weekend as well and not worry about how many calories I'm consuming.

I'm also looking forward to some walks along the beach, so that's a good way to burn some of those calories!

I'm home from my trip. I didn't take a scale along. And, regrettably, I didn't do a good job at following Karen's portion-control advice. The scale is definitely up now.

I'll get myself in line this week, and post on next week's thread. Hopefully, the gain won't look as significant by Thursday as it does today.
