    DIAGNOSED IN AUGUST 2010

I WAS DIAGNOSED IN AUGUST AFTER HAVING MUCH DIFFICULTY WITH MY BALANCE AND PAIN IN LOWER LEGS AND TOES. GOING TO THE DOCTOR IN JANUARY AND NO ONE PICKED UP ON ORDERING THE PROPER TESTS BASED ON THE SYMPTOMS. WAS TOLD IN JANUARY THAT I HAD A PINCHED NERVE AND NEEDED TO GO TO A PAIN SPECIALIST. LONG STORY SHORT, I DECIDED NOT TO GO STRAIGHT TO A PAIN DOCTOR BUT TO ANOTHER NEUROLOGIST WHO KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE ORDERED THE PROPER TESTS AND LABS, WITHIN 2 WEEKS I GOT THE DX. VERY DEVASTATING BUT RELIEVED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME. SINCE AUGUST I STARTED ON COPAXONE DAILY. HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH IV INFUSIONS 2 TIMES SO FAR WHEN I COULD NOT EVEN WALK. ITS BEEN SO HARD TO DEAL WITH, VERY DIFFICULT FOR MY HUSBAND AND KIDS BUT THEY ARE NOW STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM DEALING WITH AND ARE SUPPORTIVE. MY JOB TERMINATED ME WHICH HAS BEEN EMOTIONALLY HARD FOR ME STILL BUT I AM TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE AND BELIEVE THERE MIGHT BE A TIME THAT I CAN WORK AGAIN. THANKS FOR LISTENING!

    Hello nursejan

    Welcome to MS World!

LONG STORY SHORT, I DECIDED NOT TO GO STRAIGHT TO A PAIN DOCTOR BUT TO ANOTHER NEUROLOGIST WHO KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING.HE ORDERED THE PROPER TESTS AND LABS, WITHIN 2 WEEKS I GOT THE DX.
Good for you that you followed your "gut" and went to a different neurologist.

WITHIN 2 WEEKS I GOT THE DX. VERY DEVASTATING BUT RELIEVED TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH ME.
Yes, the diagnosis of MS can be devastating - but it is a relief to know what we're dealing with. Some folks go for years with symptoms, but not enough criteria for a diagnosis. I was fortunate too, in that I got a diagnosis after the test results (MRI, LP) and a consult with the MS specialists at the Mellen Center for MS in Cleveland.

ITS BEEN SO HARD TO DEAL WITH, VERY DIFFICULT FOR MY HUSBAND AND KIDS BUT THEY ARE NOW STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM DEALING WITH AND ARE SUPPORTIVE.
Sometimes it takes awhile for loved ones to accept our situation. Glad to hear that yours have started to understand and are supportive.

MY JOB TERMINATED ME WHICH HAS BEEN EMOTIONALLY HARD FOR ME STILL BUT I AM TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE AND BELIEVE THERE MIGHT BE A TIME THAT I CAN WORK AGAIN. THANKS FOR LISTENING!
I'm so sorry about your job loss. But you never know, you may be able to work again. There are many various opportunities for nurses.

Have you checked out the Nurses Supporting Nurses Forum that we have here? You may like it.

Feel free to ask questions, and we'll do our best to help.

Looking forward to seeing you around!

    Take care,

        Hi and welcome!
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
