new here and to message boards

    Hello,

I am new here to MSWorld and to using a message board.
I am a 51 year old wife, mother and grandmother who has been diagnosed with a "progressive, neurological disorder", possibly, probably (depending which doctor is speaking), MS. I have a loving husband, two married adult sons and a darling grandson and another darling grandson on the way.

My husband and I have three small dogs and two cats. Most of whom are our son's animals before they moved away and got married (of course, they did not take the animals with them). We love them anyway, the sons and the animals.

I have been lucky to have good doctors, except for two neurologists I have been to see. I have been reading on this message board for several weeks and even though I have never used a message board before I felt this one would be good for me. Everyone seems to be very understanding and supportive, which is something I can use on many days.

My condition has been progressing and a feel very vulnerable in my communication through writing, because lately I make so many mistakes in grammar and spelling. I think I will like it here because everyone here seems to understand making mistakes in writing.

Believe it or not I was a literacy coordinator (ie reading specialist) over three departments at a large high school working with teachers, instructional assistants and students before I became ill. I had to retire on disability because of the progression of my illness and it's effect on my work.

That's about it for me. I look forward to meeting many of you on the message boards.

    Hello Nana-Anne

    Welcome to MS World!

Sounds like a nice family! And I like your subtle sense of humor! (you love them all anyways!)

We're glad you joined! Besides the understanding and support you will find here, I think many of the topics are quite interesting and engaging.

Making mistakes here is acceptable and understood! You did a great job with your post.

It sounds like that was a very fulfilling career. I'm sure you miss it somewhat? I had to retire on disability from the US Postal Service. I do miss working at times, but I really do enjoy the free time now and not having to force myself to go out when I'm not feeling well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and we'll be glad to help if we can. Looking forward to seeing you around!

    Take care,

Nana-Anne, welcome! There are so many people here who understand and who have great advice and interesting perspectives. I think you'll fit right in. I can absolutely believe you were a literacy coordinator. Your grammar and writing are lovely. Besides, it's not about typos or knowing where to put an apostrophe. This place is about information and support. I know I've made my share of typos here, and it's OK.

I am sorry to hear this led to your retirement. Congratulations on your grandsons, and again, welcome!

Hello Nana-Anne! Welcome to MS World! This is a great community of people sharing in the common struggle of the unique and individual sxs of MS. I hope that you find it as helpful here as I have.

I read your other post..I am 49 and was dxd about a year and half ago. However, I am at a different point in life with two daughters in elementary school...the youngest is 7!

MS is a daily challenge and I struggle with the changing and varying symptoms. The docs know quite a bit, but there is more that they don't know. The people here are so caring and supportive and are a wealth of information, especially the daily living with this unpredictable disease.

          Please visit often!

nana-anne, welcome to the message boards. I actually made my first post in here just today. I understand your feelings of vulnerability especially through writing. I never use to have problems with grammer or spelling, but now i do. Over the weeks of skimming the boards, chatting with some of the members, and enjoying the knowledge I could gain here I've realized the importance of people who understand. I'm just a kid compared to most on here, but I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you, and I hope you continue to stay a part of MSWorld.

(Oh and I LOVE animals so that always helps that you have them! SQUEE!)
