    First timer....

Hi, my name is Sharon I am in limbo about being diagnosed with MS. It has been almost a year since I was told I might have MS or a brain tumor while having my reflexes checked. I was being seen by a pain specialist for my sciatic nerve. Today I had my 3rd MRI, still no definitive answer. I am frustrated and exhausted, I just want to feel like my old self again....

    Hello Sharon

Welcome to the Forums at MS World - glad you stopped by to introduce yourself!

Sorry to learn that after a year of symptoms, you still don't have a definitive answer as to what's going on. I feel bad for you because of the frustration and exhaustion you've been going through.

Have you had other neurological tests besides the MRI's? (Such as Lumbar Puncture, VEP, etc.) Also, have you obtained a second opinion, or are you willing to go to another doctor? Just some things to ponder....

We have an ongoing weekly thread in the General Questions and Answers Forum for the members who are in limbo. They don't have a diagnosis yet, but have neurological symptoms to contend with. Why not check it out, if you want to.

Feel free to ask questions and we'll be glad to help if we can. MS World has a great bunch of supportive and encouraging members. It also has valuable information and interesting topics. We don't feel so alone when we can relate to the experiences and challenges of others.

Please keep hopeful and don't give up. Hopefully you will get some answers soon. Looking forward to seeing you around.

    Take care,

      Thanks

      Hi KOKO,

I guess I am just going to have to travel and get more testing. I haven't had any other test except for my MRI'S. I only saw one neurologist close to where I live. Have traveled alot to Boston for husbands heart problems and was hoping not to travel away from the kids anymore then I have to. The cost, stress and exhaustion is not what I wanted to do, but I may have to. I would love to chat sometime and pick your brain sometime. I just would like to start treatment asap if I have it, I want to better my outcome.
      Thanks,
      Sharon

Sharon, welcome and sorry for you having to be here.

I know that the thought of traveling is disconcerting but if you could go to Boston, you could choose to see an MS specialist that might be of more help to you. If he didn't have the answers he would certainly know who you need to see and might even be able to get you in with someone else on that trip.

Don't give up! We are here to support and cheer you on till you get answers and to be there when you do.
