Since I read about 1000 previous posts about steroids for treating a bad flare I wanted to contribute my first experience with SMIV. I was admitted to hospital, Rush in Chicago. No side effects to speak of and an incredible improvement in my quality of life.
I did do a three week taper which ended on Friday.
I have no idea how long this improvement will last, but I am so grateful to enjoy gardening, socializing, swimming, going for walks...life, again. The heat can still knock my socks off but other than that I feel more like myself and am trying to play catch up with all the things I have let slide in the past year.
I am aware that the steroid treatment course may not always have the same effectiveness, but I was very scared going in and now so happy I did. I'll take whatever I can get. I know it is not a cure, but sure feels like one....
