Who is this body I'm in

    Hello all,

I was diagnosed with MS in January of this year. In January of 2009 my family was living in San Antonio TX and I collapsed on the floor, unconcious for a short time. After that I went to the ER just to be sure I was ok. The doctors there treated me like I had heat exhaustion, which I was ok with, but they decided to do an MRI just in case. As I came out of the MRI everyone treated me differently. Being that I was at a military hospital, I'm sure they saw some bad stuff and that's how they were now treating me, like they saw some bad stuff. As I went back to my room to wait in walks the Doc and sais we think you have a demilinating disease, most likely MS.

4 Doctors Later and several attacks I have a diagnosis of MS. So far they are diagnosing me as Relapsing Remitting, I am a mom of three tiny ones, ages 4, 3, and 2 in October. It's been a bit crazy. Just since January of this year, I have lost the vision on my right side, had trouble with using my left leg. Had total numbness of both legs. and had a pretty severe allergic reaction to every drug we have tried so far. It's a little stressful this MS thing, but I'm glad to have found this place to talk.

      Thank you

I'm trying to have good attitude, I won't lie though the anti-depressants are really helping me stay positive. I do really well until the pain creaps up on me. Hopefully Iwill be able to talk to the Doc about the pain and see if he can get me something a little better than aleve.

Rocky, Wow, I applaud your courage.

Work with your doctor until you get the best solution for pain. For everybody it is different. If your regular doctor can't find the solution, ask for referral to a pain management specialist.

Be sure to ask for help with your precious children when you need it!

And know that you can always express your love even if sx keep you from being active with them. My sons were early teens when I was dx and the hardest thing for me was not being able to do as much with them (I tried, but after falling, breaking nose, etc., figured I had to cut back). But I could always tell them I loved them. And they appreciate every little thing I've been able to do with/for them, especially when they know some of it was a struggle for me.

With this strange disease, as you know already, you'll have good days/weeks and bad. Enjoy your family during the good times, and reach out for support during the hard ones. Every family has ups and downs. MS has entered the mix in your family. In many ways, it may help you be more thankful for eachother.

I pray for your release from pain, lessening of all sx, and strength and love in your life.

          Hello Rocky

Welcome to MS World Forums - nice to meet you!

Sounds like you have your hands full, with 3 little ones, and several MS symptoms to deal with.

It's too bad that you are having allergic reactions to the meds. Hopefully there will be something to help you that you'll be able to tolerate.

It would be wonderful if your symptoms resolve soon, so you can get back to living your life a little less stressful than it's been.

We're glad you found us here, and hope you continue to share what's going on

P.S. I like the title of your thread - I've asked myself that question many times

          Take care,
