I'm new here, but not new to MS

I'm a retired NYC middle school administrator. If I could rock that position, and I did for 25 years, I could handle anything! MS put me back in the fight! I suffered indescribable pain everywhere; mostly my feet, legs and then hands. The feet matched the diabetic nerve pain commercials for Lyrica...burning as if someone held a lighter to my feet! I also suffered from severe arthritis and carpal tunnel, but when my hands became as acute as my feet I visited a neurologist. Long story short...he prescribed drug after drug until I had some relief, though not much. He pushed me to see a specialist, in particular, Dr. Claire Riley at Columbia Presbyterian. Wow. This woman scanned the countless MRI's and in less than half an hour caught all the "scars" in my neck, and head. Unbelievable woman. Unbelievable doctor. Prescribed another pain killer to add to the cocktail I was already taking, and within a week I was pain free. That's all I wanted! A respite from the dull agonizing feelings that never quit! Prescribing Tecfedera was her next move and though she really wanted me to stay on that, I began losing my hair, slowly, almost imperceptibly...but the thinning was frightening. I stopped the medication...my next visit is Thursday...she will prescribe another medication to replace the Tec...here's to that!

    Welcome, Cbader1.

Glad you found us. I was fortunate to find MSWorld, even before my dx, so I've had great support here for many years.

Hope you come back often, to ask questions, to let us know what's going on in your life, and to also provide support to the rest of us.
