My 10 yr old son and Dr.'s

It all started in 2011 after he hit his head we went to the emergency room and he had his first involuntary spasm. After this time, it took some time before it happened again. But this time May 2014 it was worst. My son was sitting in the car and both of his legs went numb. I tried to help him stand up but he couldn't stand up on his feet. It was like he had no legs/feet. We got to the emergency room and the involuntary left leg spasm happened and he was scared out of him mind. I held him as it was happening. As it was happening he held his chest as if something else was going on. We get into the back (triage) and he would not stop moving his leg or his foot said that if he does...it will happen again..as if he keeps moving it won't happen. So I asked him to let the Dr.'s see what happening. So he stopped moving his leg and can feel when its about to happen.. the numbness comes first and a few seconds after the spasm. I asked him does it hurt. He says No. The Dr's ran some test ekg...eeg and blood work..... They even said they have never seen this before....and release my child with a follow up to his regular dr. Eeg says he is not having seizure activity. Is anyone here experiencing this and if so, what would be your next call? a neurologist?

Please help...I'm scared and confused...I want to get to the bottom of this....

Last night he wouldn't see because he said he felt weird again... Anyone having similar symptoms...sometimes its hard for my son to explain what he feels he has a speech impairment and a learning disability....

hi, I am sorry but I don't have any experience or advice for you. I hope someone will be able to chime in. I just wanted to wish you and your son well and I hope you get answers and relief soon. I have a 10 yr old child, and I can imagine how scared you and your son are. Again, I wish you the best (((prayers)))

I've thought about your post for awhile. My son had seizures at about age 10, and it was a very scary experience.

I think I would start with your family physician to get referred to the right specialist. The head trauma a few years ago might suggest a visit to an orthopedic doc, or an ENT, or a neurologist. It is difficult to find the right direction and I feel for you. Wondering what was the cause of the head trauma?

Getting your doctor's help in the next step makes sense to me. Best of luck as you search for the answers you need.

He was playing and he fell and hit his head...I took him directly to the emergency room that day and he had his first spasm.

I am seeing a dr..but I'm seeing dr.'s who has NEVER seen this before.....

Dr first step was an eeg... We have an appointment coming up on the 19th... I'm waiting and anticipating...When I got to a dr a lot of times I'm doing research so they won't tell me anything.... and so that I can make some suggestions as well.....
