    Short Term Memory Loss

I hope I have the right thread. I'm having problems with short term memory loss. My parents say it's non existent. I can't remember conversations an hour later. Anyway, I was talking to my aunt who is a president at a hospital, and I was telling her about my short term memory loss.

She told me that my short term memory loss could be due to the medications that I am on. I'm on Baclofen, Lyrica, and
Zanaflex. I'm also taking Vitamin D and Vitamin B-12.

My aunt knows that I have MS. Has anyone else heard of this?

    Hi Michelle,

What you are referring to is known as cognitive dysfunction and is actually pretty common in MS. (As you may have noticed, your post was moved to the subforum "Cognitive Dysfunction" in the "MS Symptoms" forum ) Medications or things like fatigue or stress sometimes play a role, but not always. It can just be a part of MS or any combination of contributing factors. Here's some info about it from the NMSS: http://www.nationalmssociety.org/abo...ion/index.aspx

Cognitive Rehabilitation is helpful for this, so ask your neuro for a referral to a specialist who can properly evaluate and treat you for this.

    Good luck to you!

Thanks for the info! Right now, I'm on a waiting list to see my new neurologist. I moved, and it's going to take 6 to 9 months to see him. I will be seeing him sometime in April and July.

Yes, see if you can get a referral to a neuropsychologist for testing. The results will show strengths and weaknesses and you'll be given strategies to deal with your weaknesses.
