    Obstructive vs central sleep apnea

I am hoping to get input from anyone diagnosed with sleep apnea. Do you have obstructive, central, or a combination? If central, are you still trying a cpap mask? Has it helped? Is it hard to cope with?
After a long time having difficulty sleeping, waking up at least every two hours all night every night, my neurologist finally had me do a sleep study. I was called Friday to say I have sleep apnea which completely shocked me. The sleep center is calling me tomorrow to discuss everything further. They believe it is central which I've read may not be helped by cpap. I definitely have lesions in the location where they could cause central apnea and dont fit the body type which generally (not always) accounts for the obstructive type.
Hoping for a good nights sleep for the first time in more than a year so hoping cpap works and is manageable.

My brother has central sleep apnoea and uses a CPAP machine. It's made the world of difference to him and his quality of life.
