    Shortness of breath

    1. i am slightly asthmatic
    2. i have never needed to travel with my inhaler
    3. i quit smoking May '13, MS symptoms started shortly after
    4. my GP always checks my breathing with each visit. its always normal

So my slight asthma is still slight. No differences in breathing.

BUT any physical exertion and i am short of breath. That's stairs or even walking more than 20ft.
    Does anyone else experience this?
I think I first noticed this in September last year. And no, I don't and have never pushed myself to where I'm gasping for air, I am cautious.

N.B. I am fairly inactive and have difficulty walking. Well, I have difficulty with everything. My neuro said my MS is 'advanced and aggressive'
So, ya, I got it bad. If you wanna know specific symptoms its easier to ask me which ones I DON’T have.

Fun fact: in early January I didn't use my inhaler once for almost two weeks! Longest ever. Then I had my first major remission. It only lasted a few days but the relapse was not as bad. I was the worst ever in December. That's why I think there might be some MS relation.
I'm in a remission right now. Not as good as before but it's lasted a few weeks now. I'm feeling the best since last fall! Which is not that bad, I'll take it.

And yes, I will ask my GP next appt. I kept forgetting all these months. My memory loss seems to be improving too... Its not that bad

long winded when I type I guess haha

    Hi Chowda,
It is very possible you are s.o.b. due to being de-conditioned. Try taking your pulse, it probably goes up fairly high when you are sob.

The best way to measure your state of condition is your pulse. It shouldn't get over a certain number, ask your doc what that number is, for you.

You might also ask your doc for a referral to Physical Therapy, so they can help you with some exercises you can do. Good luck and please let us know what your doc says?

I thought I had developed asthma -- shortness of breath -- exhausted all the time - but then I realized the wheezing was in my throat only - my chest was not wheezing.
Long story short --- my windpipe had narrowed to the size of a straw --- was able to get to a specialist who (by laser) cleaned out my windpipe ( "tissue of unknown origin" ) and now I feel so much better. Snoring stopped, lost weight, still have MS fatigue but feel so much better cause I am getting enough oxygen !!!
Just thought I would share-- I didn't realize what was going on until my children and husband started asking me about my wheezing -- then I started listening to my body !
Hope you find your solution to your issues -
