    Bruises and swelling

Does it take longer for bruises to heal and swelling to go down when you have ppms?

There's nothing about MS itself that would cause bruises to heal more slowly or swelling to go down more slowly.

However, if a person's physical movement is impaired, blood and lymph might become stagnant, and the slower metabolism could cause that to happen. But it isn't MS that's doing it, it's the inactivity. It can happen to anyone with impaired movement, not just people with MS.

It can also be caused by certain medications, so if you are taking any medicines, you might want to talk to your doctor about what you are noticing.

Bruising can be a signal of a different auto-immune disease, also. It is always a good thing to report that to your doc...like the expert said! fed

I have noticed that all of my healing processes now take longer. Like MSer102 said (I asked my neurologist about the same thing a year ago) the lack of mobility plays a part in that.
