I'm one of those people who gets chilled and stays very chilled, unless I come up with a way to warm up. My usual solution has been to take a very hot bath (yes, I know). Up until this month, this has been fine. It's not working anymore. I warm up - and then promptly have a reaction to the heat. Anyone have any suggestions for how to warm up?

Well, this caught my eye! I can't stand the heat nor the cold! I'm like you, I get cold and can't get warmed up, so the trick for me is a gradual warm up and gradual cool down.
When cold, I usually put on layers and layers until my body temp reaches a comfortable level, then I gradually take off layers. Holding and drinking a warm cup of tea or coffee helps too - both internally and externally.
I take showers too and gradually ease up on the hot water. Key word = gradual LOL
Wonder what others do? Right now I'm cold and wearing fingerless gloves to type.1st sx '89 Dx '99 w/RRMS - SP since 2010

Layers of clothes and throws. It's also delicate balance between the cold & heat for me. I'm extremely heat sensitive, so once I've warmed up, I have to be able get the extra warmth off ASAP. Can't get too cold, either, or else my spasticity kicks up big time. A remote controlled space heater works great (temp. change just a convenient click away ), too ... but they can get expensive to use.Kimba

My feet often freeze (rest of me may be fine, but my feet are frozen) and no matter how many pair of socks I wear with my slippers or shoes - nothing does the trick, so I have found relief in two ways:
1. Place my feet on a heating pad (low heat) while sitting- keep your socks on;
2. You know those little packs that hunters use to keep their hands or feet warm? Sometimes I'll use one of those in my slippers.

this is a rather expansive solution. A good set of clothing such as under Armour or something similar can really help. I have yet to find an inexpensive base layer. One option that seems to work for me is to wear an outer layer made of down. One thing I've found that really works during prolonged exposure are "boot blankets" for my feet. They can be found at any outdoor store ( such as Dick's or Gander Mountain).hunterd/HuntOP/Dave

Okay...I need to throw my two cents in here, if you don't mind. You all are going to think I am crazy! At night, I sleep with a small portable fan, hung around my neck (the air comes out the top of the fan, which works great)...and...I also have a portable heater on the side of the bed, set at 67 degrees. It automatically keeps it at that temp...(although, sometimes, when it gets above 67, it actually blows cool air for a few minutes!).
So....I am sleeping under a light bedspread...no blankets for me!...then, I always get too warm at some point, and I get a lousy hot flash (I know when they are coming because all of a sudden, I get a nauseous feeling...just really 'unwell')...so, instead of pointing an oscillating (or non-oscillating) fan toward the bed, I just turn onto my back, place the small fan that is hanging around my neck, on my chest, and let the air blow right at my neck and face...it works great! But then, of course, as I begin to cool down, I begin getting waves of chills, over my entire body (it actually feels kind of relaxing, except that I am still too cold to sleep), and I have to pull the bedspread back over my body, to warm up. Then, a couple hours later, when I wake up to go to the bathroom (it is every two hours for me), I go through the process, all over again....no fun, but I think I have 'streamlined' it as much as I can...crazy, huh?!

I too am always cold, BURRRRR!!!!! I have booties that I can either put in the microwave or freezer, depending on what you need. When put in the freezer I keep them in a Ziploc bag. Good thing is that they stay pliable, unlike ice packs, which I do use for the spasticity in my leg sometimes.
I used to have a shawl that could also be put in the microwave or freezer. Worked fine until I overcooked it in the microwave!

Try getting one of those heated throws (they don't work as well as normal heated blankets so they are not as warm) and put it on low. It will keep you warm without making you too hot. Its a good thing in cold weather. Now, I live in NC where the weather is mild, so you may need it warmer, but they are nice to have to take the chill off.
