Weekly Muster on the mess deck

IMPORTANT Patient Ed call-in March 14 (below)

All veterans, active duty, family even LimboLanders are ALL welcome here. As veterans we have some different situations and issues than most civilian MSers. We deal with the VA and some of us get our medical care thru VA medical Centers, issues of getting help with disability and pensions etc.

Please......... Drop in and say HI at least once per muster. We want to know you are doing OK, hope better than just OK. With REGULAR musters we can get to know our fellow vets better and build a sense of UNITY. If you run across a fellow Vet elsewhere on MSWorld, please let them know we are here so they can join us.

Hope everyone is doing well !

The VA web site..... (link below) list notice of free monthly educational conference calls.

Spent most of the day at the VA yestersay, Had #10 ty infusion, saw pt for check up on trial walkaide saw my nuero in the infusion center he said that my MRI's from last month were good, no appearance of active legions and it even appears that a few have disappeared but may be because the last one was done on a different machine at another hospital but either way is was no worse than the one I had in 08 when I was dx.

Then the fun began, had ortho appoint for my torn rotator cuff MRI results, I did as directed and arrived 1/2 hour early for apppointment then sat there for 2hrs ( anybody see hurry up and wait) when I finally got called in it was for a PA not a dr, he had no idea why I was there, or how to read an MRI but said my shoulder definately looked like it was or had been "dislocated" ?????

After I informed him why I was there and how to read my records on the computer he said I didn't need surgery but was going to put me on a steroid patch for 5 days to which I responed not w/o my nuero's approval as I have MS and am on TY and the last time I had steroids it sent my suger level over 600, he did not seem to understand what the problem was with all of that.

I asked for a anti-inflammatory instead and said he didn't have anything else to use other than a shot into the joint, with that I got up and walked out.

Went back to infusion center to pick up my coat and book and the nurse asked how it went, I told her, she got on the phone with my GP and got a script for a pill and I picked it up from the pharm on the way out. Thank goodness for nurses that know what is going on!!

I was supposed to finish my bi-yearlys today with the optical clinic and a general check-up/physical with SCI.
      Instead, I'm typing this post.
Backtrack to about a month ago, I ask for a reserved seat on the van for today. "No problem".
Last week I get a call from the county SO who's now handling my case. Would I like to submit paperwork for a service connected pension?
To be honest, I've thought about it and I have some documents from within the window that show I went to the ER but the doc at the time said it there was a weird flu going around and I believed him. Otherwise, the VA is taking good care of me and I'm getting by on the non-service-connected pension, so thanks for asking but I think I'm OK.
By the way, I'm on the van list for the 18th, right? I just want to be sure.

Ummm, no you aren't. We've already got a group of guys set up and some of them are pretty old and don't like to wait around.

Were you planning to tell me this? I've got to make to make some calls now and hopefully someone will pick up.

Needless to say, I spent this week playing answering machine tag with the VA.
