    Gotta love the VA

along with my 100% approval letter they sent me an application for NC Disabled VET tag for 1 car, well now that I got my new equiped van I sent the paperwork in to the VA for them to verify I was shown as 100% and they are supposed to forward to DMV and they in turn issue the plate.
I get my application back saying they have nothing in my file to indicate any S/C disability so therefore it was declined. I called the office and spoke to someone and she said send a copy of the approval letter to her along with the application. Since the office that approved and sent me the letter is in the same building as the ones approving these applications I asked her could she not call someone in the bldg and verify the info, she said no as they cannot disclose any info regarding my S/C to anyone w/o my approval in writing even in house.

With the VA the left hand does not know what the right hand is or was doing, and the head has no clue about either.

        In my S/C denial letter letter all the following were claimed in the SAME letter;

-1- There was no evidence/record of my currently having diplopia.
The VA updated my diplopia prisms Rx in my glasses back in 2010 and currently wearing the same ones since then and as I type

-2- They claimed I had diplopia going back to 1 yr BEFORE active duty.
Which is true but then it was only horizontal, it got much worse and developed vertical as well as horizontal at my 3rd duty station.

Its any governmental agency really. My mom was notified by her doctor that Social Security considered her dead. So, she took a cab to the SS office, because she doesn't drive, with picture ID and they would not reverse the determination. She was over 80 at that time, and they just ignored her. I called my Senator, who notified her Senator, who straightened it out. It happened again before she actually died for real and she knew enough to just call her Senator.

When I was AD, they lost everyone's pregnancy tests during basic. I already had a hysterectomy, but the initial blood draw included a host of tests: HIV, Hepatitis, routine stuff, probably drug screens. But they made me get stuck again just to have a negative pregnancy test on my record, even though I had provided the surgical report for the hysterectomy when I accepted the commission.

For my release from active duty they simply crossed out recruit on by boot camp physical and wrote my current rank in over it. So my JFK (carrier) physical reads U.S.Naval Training Center Great Lakes Illinois (boot camp) at the top.

I think it was deliberate, I think it was obvious I had much more prisms &more vision problems then than when I enter the Navy.

Today I got a bill from the VA for co-pays. I am s/c 10% but they billed me for doctor visits. I had gone to the ER on 11/09. They charged me for a primary care visit and the ER visit even though I only went to the ER.

When I called VA billing about this they told me that the VA doesn't automatically let them know of changes in S/C status and that they would have to request an update from the VA.

That appears to be one area all VA handle the same, when you are rated or given more % take the letter and go to entitlements office and make sure your file is updated to show the new %.

Did that, went to business office of VA hospital to make sure they had updated my status. But still had to call the VA billing office to have them request an update of my status from the business office. And before you ask, no you can't go to the billing office. They will only give out the phone number at the VA.

We can go to ours been there 3 times , still fighting with them for reimbursements of copays dating back to 2/12 and a check for the reimbursement they said I was entitled to back in oct. which is about 10% of what they owe me.

Do you know if they are suppose to pay me back the co-pays to the effective date of my S/C? My S/C goes back to 6/08 and would amount to somewhere between 2K & 3K. I only got my S/C the end of Oct so I haven't been working on that aspect cvery long so far.

you 100% or not, that makes some difference, you should get copays for everything if 100%, if you are partial you will only get for those meds that relate to your S/C . I also got copays for office visits from date of claim basis. if 30 % or more you also should get mileage for any visits in the last 30 days S/c or not and all in the future.

                          Thanks Scooter.

It is those office visits that add up to between 2K and 3K over those 4+ years.

I had posted once before a little hint a VA nurse told me about that may help those that still pay office visit copays, Try to get appointments scheduled for the same day and have a non specialist appt first in other words a GP appt before any other, what she told me was that the VA will only bill you for copay for one visit each day and it will be the first one of the day, this way you get billed for 10 instead of 50.
