What to expect for c & p for ms

Has anyone had a c&p for ms? I haven't been scheduled but was just curious. Would appreciate any insight on this.
    Thank you..

Wasn't much to me, answer all questions as you would on your worse day, if you use a cane or any other assistive device make sure you use it that day. Mine included no physical exam just sat there for about 45 min answering questions. I took my wife along in case he asked about a problem and I didn't realize I had the problem than she cut in and said yes I did, Not a real big thing , I had 4 different ones for different dx problems. Good luck and don't forget to collect your mileage pay when you leave.

Also have you been seen by a VA nuero? make sure he has written up everything and he is backing you up, the PA that did my C & P was an idiot (said I couldn't be disabled because I still drove) MY PVA rep got involved and the VA ended up making thier decision based on what my nuero wrote instead.

My experience is very limited and probably varies depending on YOUR situation, what Sx you had while on duty etc.

In my case the main documented issue from active duty was my diplopia. My civilian eye doc thinks my diplopia from then was and is MS related. MY VA MS neuro also believe my MS is/ goes back to active duty. I was sent to a VA eye doc for my C&P exam. She also dug into other non-eye issues that are likely MS related in my records. MY C&P I think went well.

Even with what I think is good documentation, short of an on duty Dx, that does not mean I will get the SC determination. It's up to the deciders of the claim that will determine that, or with my luck, who hears any appeals if it comes to that.

All I can say DOCUMENT anything and everything you can.

Thanks gomer & scooter for the info. I appreciate it, was just wondering what to expect if I ever get the call. My claim will probably be on presumptive, can't prove anything in my military file (I think) just buddy letters from a few friends from back in the day. My er visit for unexplained vertigo and balance was 4 years after discharge and then issues every few years after that for different thing ms related. I have an IMO from a Neroloigist (MS specialist) saying he believes my ms stared in 1996. I have never been to the VA so I have nothing on that side just civilian dr.'s. Has either of you been sc for ms or r u still waiting?

          Thank again..

Yes I have SC for MS, I was dx in 2008 but got out of AF in 1987, my records indicate sx of MS dating back to 1976. I submitted my claim thru PVA in Feb 11 was approved for 40% for left leg and foot, filed for suplemental % in Nov 11 and just rcvd approval for 70% Sc disability along with 100% for unemployability. I am also on SS disability.
Do you have a service organization working for you on your claim? if not get one. Also do you have a copy of your active duty med records ? if not request them which can be done on line.
Any reason you are not using VA for at least your MS care? not sure what DMD you are on if any but the cost there will most likely be cheaper and does not take approval by an insurance co to get. They will bill your insurance for any copays you may have.
any other questions let me know or if you want to you can also email me, my email address is shown on my profile. I have learned a lot about the VA in the last 20 months and am more than willing to help you anyway I can.

              update on claim from 6-10-2011

the 50/50 rule the va says they used is a load of ****. they sent my claim to their dr. and he says no connection and my ms specialist said their is as likely as not it was. my pva rep said their dr. opinion over ruled my dr. ms specialist. so off to the black hole of appeals and another 3 years to wait. I never even had a c&p exam, my claim sat for 2 years and now they denied it. I had alot of medical evidence and they just seem to ignored it, dont know what to do now, this is really bad.
