    Had my 1st Infusion today

Piece of cake! Wish I had done this years ago.

Going for my first infusion now. So glad to hear is was a non-event. Frankly, I'm petrified, not that anyone is going to know.

Criswell...congrats on doing so well for your first infusion. Indeed...a Piece of Cake.

Rathsog...I am also having an infusion today. #7. Like Criswell said...a Piece of Cake...please don't be scared.

Yeah,I had no side effects. I feel a little tired today, but that could be because I spent an hour at the gym and later took a 2 mile walk. By the way I was DXed with MS in 1983. I wish they had Tysabri back then.

2-days post infusion and I feel OK. Still afraid I'm going to feel something awful but I think if I haven't felt badly yet, I'm not going to. Mostly though, I'm looking forward to avoiding that miserable feeling I got from taking Rebif. My body never quite adjusted and though they are considered "nuisance side effect," feeling like I was hit by a MAC truck every Monday was not enjoyable.

Keep wondering what's currently going on inside my body though. I was given this medication via IV that must be doing something incredible and powerful to make it only be needed on a monthly basis. I have these cartoon-like visions of an army, in new uniforms, with major body armor and serious weaponry rafting around my blood stream to fight the battles the original army are too tired handle anymore. Odd though…but certainly amusing.

I think it is pretty safe to say that you are going to be just fine. Anyone who has taken the interferons is usually hesitant about other drugs...I know I am. I too felt like I was hit with a MAC truck with interferon.

From what I understand from my MS specialist they are not 100% certain why TY works like it does. But it is believed to form a protective barrier around the brain that keeps the stuff that causes the Demyelination out. So yes, you have lots of Soldiers in that brain along with just a few exceptionally good Marines.

Congrats on getting through your first infusion.

Although I'm not positive, I believe I go for infusion #50 next Friday. For me, day 1 is just like day 28, and I eagerly look forward to my two hour "break" from the challenges of daily life with MS. There is an excellent YouTube video that shows the mechanism of Tysabri. It begins "Tysabri, how it works..." I recommend it if you haven't seen it.
