If you titrated more slowly ...

than the 120 mg 2x/day for a week and then moving to 240 mg 2x/day, how did you do it?

My husband and I just had to reschedule our anniversary getaway (again! Our anniversary was in August ) and now it will probably be next weekend. I would be scheduled to move up to the full dose our first morning away and I'm just thinking that would kind of stink.

So I'm thinking about doing 120mg 1x/day for 4 days, then moving up to 120mg 2x/day for 5 days, then moving to the 240 mg 2x/day after that. Does that sound reasonable or similar to what any of you did?

My body doesn't respond well to many medications. I spent an entire month on 120 before moving up to 240. DMTs are a medication "for a lifetime" so no point in rushing it.

Titrating Slowly

I titrated slowly by taking 120mg once a day for 4 days, 120mg twice a day for 2 days, then 120mg each morning and 240mg each evening for 6 days. After that, I went to 240mg twice a day. I also took dose of pepto bismol before each dose of Tecfidera for the titration period, plus 1 Claritin and 1 Nexium each day. I began Tec 9/7 & have had occasional mild GI problems, flushing, itching. I've had constant headache and periods of dizziness, anxiety and being off-balance which were so severe for past 2 days that I skipped morning dose to see if it made any difference. It's hard to know which are side effects of Tec and which are just good old MS. I wish you the best.

Titrating Tecfidera

My doctor had put 8 patients on Tecfidera before I switched over to Tecfidera from Rebif. Based on what he learned from the previous 8 patients he had me on the 120 mg dose for two weeks rather than the manufacturer's recommended one week. That seemed to go pretty well so I went up to the full 240mg dose and have been on that ever since (3 months). So far so good.

I did 5 days of 120mg 1x/day and today is my first day of 120mg 2x/day. I think I'll play it by ear for our getaway and not do the evening dose if it seems to be bothering me. PP, that's a good point there's no need to rush it!
