    Bradycardia on Gilenya

It's known that one can have slowed heart rate when the drug is initially begun - that is why there is the first dose observation period - but has anyone else had a problem with bradycardia later on?

I had been on Gilenya for almost a year when I suddenly developed a heart rate down in the 40's and I couldn't stand up without getting dizzy. That earned me an emergency evaluation by the cardiologist, and a bunch of tests, all of which turned out OK. Then the same thing happened two more times over the next two weeks, and we decided "Three strikes and I'm out."

Other than that, I had no problems with Gilenya so it was a disappointment to have to stop. Has anyone else had this experience?

Sorry to hear you had this happen and now have to discontinue the medication. That is disappointing.

I wouldn't know if I ever had any issues with bradycardia while I was on it, since I also had a pacemaker. But, I recall my MS Specialist saying there was always a possibility of developing bradycardia beyond the initial dose.

Hope you have no further episodes and you find a med that works for you.
