    Another medication a BUST

So sad and depressing, I have been on Amitriptyline for alomost 2 months now and it isn't working, I am still in so much pain AND I have gain 8 pounds on it AND I am a walking zombie I hate this drug and I have a Dr. apt tomorrow to tell him I want OFF of it but I have to wean myself off of it I am sure since I had to build myself up to the max dose of it.
I am going to have to try yet another medication and hope it works...I am in so much pain that I can hardly walk so days....NOT good!

I need a good drug that will help with my LEG PAIN! Anyone on a medication that has worked for them....PLEASE I go tomorrow evening to talk to my Neuro

    Thanks

I've been on Lyrica which had been helping immensely with my pain from MS hug. I have also been taking nortriptyline. I don't know if working together increases the effects or not.

Unfortunately it has suddenly stopped working for me. Hug pain is back just as bad as ever.

But at least I had many months of significantly less pain.

(BTW, don't you wish they had an *angry* eye-roll face? Usually when I want to roll my eyes, I'm not happy.)

Lyrica is on the list of DOESN'T work for me I understand that I have to live with pain....I am fine with it and except it......but I need some relief....just a little bit and something that won't make me a walking zombie.....my husband and kids (5 and 7) notice HUGE difference on this medication and so do I....I hate it but I told my husband that if it made me feel better I would try to work around the side effects...but just this morning.....(because there was no school) both boys jumped in bed with me for a hour and we snuggled and watched TV until I could actually get moving

ok that turned into a pitty party sorry!! thanks for responding

Oh how I feel your pain. No pun intended. My doctors and I tried everything to help get me some relief, all to no avail. We ended up with a combination of Lortab, Neurontin, and now 800mg Ibuprofen. This combination has helped immensely. But, since yesterday morning not even that has helped. The pain is horrible and my feet feel as if they are on fire. What troubles me about that is that's how my last flare started.

Good Luck to you in your search. I know how debilitating the pain can be.

Just my two cents worth. I complained of my pain to my specialist and she prescribed 1800mgs of Gabapentin. When I asked her about gabapentin being a drug for nerve pain (which I didn't have) she still gave it to me. Of course it didn't work.

I no longer see a specialist and went back to my regular neuro and he prescribed Cymbalta for my pain as my type of pain is a deep muscle pain verses the burning pain. Cymbalta is wonderful and very rarely do I experience pain. A bonus is that it does seem to help with my anxiety as well. Cymbalta is an anti-depressant that works on different types of pain as well.
