    confused about diagnosis

I currently am not diagnosed but have been having symptoms since september. I finally saw an ms specilist in March. Brain/cervical spine MRI w & w/o contrast was done and it was clear. I also had a neurological exam that was normal. This doc could not find anything wrong with me and said there was no reason for more testing. I was not really comfortable with that, so i decided to see another doctor.

I saw another MS specialist recently who agreed that he could not find any evidence of MS. The only thing that concerned him was my b12 level was on the low side, so he reordered that test along with an MMA test. He also said we could do evoked potentials ( the visual one and the somatosensory). He said if those two come back normal, there is less then 1% chance of having MS.

In the event that those test come back normal, what should I do? Just let it go?

    Thanks

    Hi Shannan23,

How was you Urology appointment? Did the Urologist find anything wrong?

What do you want to do, Shannan?

If none of your Drs. can find a cause for your symptoms then it might be time to re-evaluate your lifestyle. This would include exercise, diet, sleep schedule, stress level, alcohol/drugs, fluid intake, vitamins/supplements. Making changes might bring an improvement to your symptoms.

If changes to your lifestyle does not bring improvement or you get worse then start with your Primary Care Physician or even your GYN for advice and testing or a referral to a different Dr.

At this time, based on the information you have provided, Multiple Sclerosis is not the problem.

    Take care.

I think you have had great advice from Snoopy. Your condition could be MS or something else. But if you truly did consult with 2 different MS specialists and they found nothing, I think you need to examine your lifestyle for clues. Remember that your nervous system can be activated by so many different things. Good luck with your urology tests. They are so much fun but a necessary evil!
