    diagnosed....I think

I have had symptoms for 4 years now. Had many brain mri's that show a few non-specific white matter lesions. I live in Canada and have an ms specialist that heads a clinic in Toronto I have been going once a year for 4 years.

I went for my appointment a few weeks ago and I was expecting him to tell me probably ms again. He did the standard neuro tests said my exam is normal than he said your symptoms are definitely from ms and said we will call it definite ms with neuropathic pain. I was surprised at what he said only because my mri was still unchanged and my exam was normal.

He has booked me for an mri in Toronto said the machines there are better than the one here where I live and said he will see me for a follow up a few weeks later.

I have few problems mainly burning pain and fatigue. I didn't ask any questions because I went in there with attitude expecting him to give me attitude again like he did last year. So he took me off guard with what he said. I will make sure I have list of questions when I go back my in Toronto is booked for july.

I'm not sure what I should be asking could anyone give me some advice so I go back prepared.

    Hi miss36,

You seem uncertain if your Neurologist diagnosed you with MS or not. For this reason it would be a good idea to get some clarification and directly ask if you do indeed have MS. From there a discussion about treatments is warranted.

    Best wishes

My take from the info you gave: You are not yet diagnosed as you do not meet the McDonald criteria. He is sending you to Toronto for you to have a stronger Tesla MRI to see if there are any lesions there that they can't see on your scans so far. If you were diagnosed you would not need another MRI, you would be talking about medications. So, wait and see what these MRIs show. You may need an LP to help you out.

Pretty sure he gave me a Dx he said definite MS with neuropathic pain. But that's the confusing part because he did not say anything else just that, than he said he wants to look at my spinal cord cause my problems are burning pain in my arms and I have had the hug sensation infact that was my very first symptom that started 4 years ago than he decided to do the brain as well. So...I don't know what to think oh well wait and see wait and see wait and see story of my life. thanks for the valuable input ladies..

Best of luck with your MRIs. Let us know how they go once you get the results.
