If it lasts more than 24 hours, the usual rule with ms is to get new symptoms checked out as it might be a flare that could be treated with steroids.

        It started yesterday morning

If it's considered new then it might give me the second relapse we are waiting for, it's definitely new, and my balance is dodgy this week, back to using a cane for stability

My toes curl under like a spasm several times a day. They also have the burning and buzzing feeling. It started with this now is numbness tingling and weird sensations up my legs. I take neurontin for it. Helps some.

My neurologist doesn't consider these new symptoms a relapse for me. She claims sensory symptoms are not relapse and not treated with steroids, no need for MRI. Who knows?!

Yes. That's exactly how I describe it too my ms specialist. And exactly how it feels. I keep the top of my toes foot bruised because I am constantly rubbing them so hard to try to relax them. I use the other foot or toes to smash/rub it. I thought it was from spasticity. I don't know. I don't think he has come out and said that. Mine do it almost every day. To different degrees. Rare that they stop completely.
I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. Do you take baclofen?

                  No drugs...

I am on Bisoprolol to control "migraine" and citalopram for mood stuff, nothing else yet, but these things happening are making my GP actually listen which is great

                    Azlemed,

I think I know what you mean. While walking barefoot, I can see the three littlest toes on my left foot curl under. It isn't a spasm, or spasicity, it is more like my toes have no bones, and are chubby little noodles attached to my feet.

Not sure why that happens, but I am always afraid I will step wrong and break them.

                      That's right

It just looks wrong, and makes my balance funny, no spasm or anything, just look wrong and feel like not there

? to others with the toe curling...

I'm new but will introduce in the right area, just want to ask if everyone commenting here with this has been diagnosed yet?

My toes started curling in a few months back and sometimes really point my whole foot inward. It can be all sorts of different ways and without medicating with baclofen it will progress to full on spasticity or a charley horse in my calf. It mostly happens when I lie down at night but also during the day while sitting too. I have not been diagnosed yet and am still doing tons of tests....

So is this unique to ms or many other causes could be to blame, in your experience?

Toes curling under could have causes other than MS but definitely does happen with MS. This didn't start for me until many years after diagnosis, used to happen only at night but now occurs any time of day or night.

Sorry you are dealing with this too. I wish you we'll through the long process of testing and neurology visits.

Spasticity has many causes. I am sure your neurologist has tested you for MS. Baclofen is used for spasticity in people who have all kinds of problems.

I hope your problem gets better soon. I know it can be painful. I do not get the toes curling under, but have spasticity in other ways.

If the Baclofen continues not to work you may want to discuss with your doctor about adding another muscle relaxant.

                            Good luck and feel better.

Thanks so much for the advice. My toe curling wasn't my first symptom, it started about 2 months ago after a few months of severe leg spasms and weakness mostly on the right side, in addition to a slew of other bizarre things. It seems like every time I go to the neurologist I have a new symptom to describe and show and just more and more testing... The toes is definitely the most concerning problem because if I don't intervene with meds it [I]has [I]progressed to terrible spasms and cramps (but not always). I need to muster up the energy and effort to post on the introduction page a history so I can get some feedback as I have so many questions and so much wonder! I hope to get to it soon... thank you for the answers however!
