    Every Symptom but no diagnosis?

    Hello All,

    *(I'm 37/F/half Asian, half Caucasian)*

Long story short-er, I've always had a light tremor in my right hand. Over the last few months, this tremor has become stronger, and has spread throughout my body. My eyes constantly hurt (no infection), I get random pains in my legs (usually right above the knee, bottom of quads). My husband noticed (as well as my primary & neurologist), that my gait is off and that even my neck/head shakes/twitches. It's difficult to walk... I find myself rocking sometimes when standing, and embarrassing as this is to admit, I have lost bowel control in my sleep. I experience fatigue, tremor, pain, impaired speech (slurred and/or can't seem to "spit a word or phrase out"). All my labs have come back normal, my MRI showed no lesions, but 1 area of grey that was found years ago. There is more, but basically I have all the symptoms of MS, with exception of active lesions. Does anyone have thoughts on this? I'm befuddled. My quality of life is going down due to this, and I'm just not sure what to do - or if something is being missed? I'd appreciate any responses...

Hello Hawaiian Ginger and welcome to MSWorld.

I have all the symptoms of MS
Unfortunately, symptoms alone will not give you a diagnosis.

There is no symptom(s) which are unique to MS. There are numerous conditions/illnesses/diseases as well as vitamin/mineral deficiencies, which can all have similar symptoms.

Some medications can also be responsible for Neurological type symptoms.

When searching for answers to symptoms many other things need to be ruled in/out. There is no single test by it's self which can give a diagnosis of MS.

If you have not been to an Optometrist or Ophthalmologist in regards to your eyes being painful you may want to make an appointment. Your eyes and vision are best left to a specialist (Optometrist, Ophthalmologist).

You have had a brain MRI, did was a MRI done of the Cervical Spine (neck)? If not you may want to ask for one.

MS is a disease of the Central Nervous System(CNS) which includes the Brain, Spinal Cord, and Optic Nerves. Lesions can and do show up in any of those areas.

What is your Neurologist saying as to what might be causing your symptoms? Has there been other testing done besides the MRI and blood work?

I have not seen an ophthalmologist, but it's in the works. My MRI did not include the neck. My neuro' has no clue. I was told to "watch my symptoms" for 2 more months and if nothing changes or gets worse, to come back.
