Well, I had my appt with the MS specialist at OHSU yesterday. I was nervous, not knowing what to expect, but it turned out to be a great experience & I loved my Dr.
He spent a ton of time going over my whole history. I gave him a sort of timeline of my symptoms, taken from the journal I kept. It felt like overkill & I was slightly apologetic...until he told me that it was actually great. He said it gave him a clear picture of what was going on with me & he was actually able to guess where many of my lesions are before he looked at my MRIs. He did say that he thought I would've been a more interesting study a few months ago. LOL. I couldn't help but agree.
He agreed with the diagnosis, although he is testing me for NMO just to be sure. He also agreed with our decision to start with Rebif. Actually, he said my regular neuro is doing a good job with me & basically agreed with everything he'd done so far, although he made a few recommendations for symptom management.
Finally, he said that despite my lingering issues (spasticity, pain, etc) I am in good shape & have recovered from my flares very well. Obviously we all know how unpredictable MS is, but the fact that I'm doing so well is a good sign.
So, for now we'll see each other yearly & my regular neuro will handle the majority of my care. Which works for me. Overall, I left feeling very positive & hopeful.
