    Urinary Issues = Exacerbation?

For the past couple of weeks I've had a feeing of bladder fullness and the inability to completely empty my bladder. I was sure this was due to a urinary tract infection, but two home tests and a urine culture at an Immediate Care Center all show no infection.

Now, about 18 days after beginning to experience this 'fullness,' the sensation is gone! I'm back to normal.

Were these urinary issues an exacerbation of my symptoms and have now passed? I've only had 2 major flares, so I don't have a lot of experience. Thanks for any insight you can give me!

You can't really tell if you are emptying your bladder fully or not without an ultrasound...perhaps if it happens again, and you are able, get it checked out at the Doc's office?

I was ready to ask for a Urologist referral this time. If it happens again, I'll get to a specialist. I usually have a little bit of empyting issues........but it was MUCH worse for MUCH longer this time. Thanks!

I've had this situation many times, and you are right to check for bladder infection first off. One of my bladder infections didn't have the usual symptoms, only frequency and cloudiness. Glad yours was ruled out.

I do have persistant problems with not emptying fully, I really have to try, wait, try again. If I'm in a hurry and don't take my time, I'll be back in the bathroom within 15 minutes.

Your problems can be associated with a flare, or could just come and go, triggered by other factors. I finally went to an urologist for a workup, but I dealt with the problems for a few years before doing that.

I feel better knowing I have a specialist on board if I need him. I had an ultrasound which showed I wasn't retaining too much, and an urodynamics test that showed bladder spasms when I was full and delayed sensation of having to go.

At least I know what I'm dealing with. Your problem may differ somewhat, you may want to see an urologist down the road if this continues to happen.

You are NOT alone. Just had appt with Neuro to discuss my frequent UTIs (3 in the last 5 months). Just about to finish med for the last one. Making appt to see gyno-urologist. Gonna get to the bottom of this if I can.

Neuro's ofc didn't really know....just Rxed yet another antibiotic and have even suggested that I be on something (expensive) everyday for 3 months. I don't want to do that before seeing the specialist

Don't want to start self-cathing unless necessary. Really want to inquire about Botox for bladder.

Hope you get the answers you need
