    How to find financial assistance/charities?

Athough I am still awaiting my township's engineer to inspect my property, I will probably need french drains or the like installed in my backyard to solve my on-going water problems. I am living in the house I grew up in, as I inherited it upon my father's death in 2008.

I will be turning age 56 in March 2023, and I worked as long as I could and have been living upon my SSDI since age 42. I have no resources and the house is my only asset. I live in Pennsylvania, and the state pays my monthly Medicare premiums, and I qualify for LIHEAP. But, I don't know where to try to find financial assistance? Are there any known charities that my help me? My head is spinning. I simply don't know where to turn.

Any ideas/input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi dm - I've been searching for your needs and found plenty, but the cut off for funding is Dec 2022.
What I did find is this application- simply fill out and be sure to click the bullet for home improvements https://usafundingapplications.org/v9/application/

This may be helpful too- https://www.hud.gov/states/pennsylva...ip/homerepairs

    I will keep looking...

Would it be an option to consider selling the home? I'm sure not ideal but I have seen so many struggle with no clear resolution in an effort to stay in a home that may not be the best option. Real Estate although cooling in some areas is still fairly inflated from what I can tell.
      Best wishes.

Have you considered calling both your state and federal reps to see if they can be of assistance and direct you at all to resources?

Also, the PA department of aging may be a resource. https://www.aging.pa.gov/aging-servi...s/default.aspx

          Hi dm0329,

Additionally there are two resources below that may be able to help you with financial assistance.

There is the National MS Society and their MS Navigator’s who are there to help. You may call 1-800-344-4867 and the website is:

          https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Re...n-MS-Navigator

You may also contact the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at 954-776-6805 and their website is: https://msfocus.org/Contact

I believe they will be able to help and direct you to some additional resources.

Multiple Sclerosis Association of America might be a resource. I am unable to find anything on their website that would be of help to you, but I seem to remember that they might have grants available to help with various needs. Maybe, though, I might be thinking of The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation that you were already referred to.

It certainly wouldn't hurt, though, to use their contact information to contact them to see if they could help, or if they could refer you to an agency who could.

Also, here is a link to MSWorld's list of resources. Perhaps you can find a resource on this list that I haven't thought of that might be of assistance to you.
