    Dizzy Question

Does anyone else experience repeated dizziness when doing things? Sometimes it happens when I'm just sitting there, but more often, when doing things like gardening, cleaning, driving, walking, standing (less often), etc.

When driving, I notice it mostly when turning my head to look over my shoulder and coming back. It's mainly feeling like a disorientation when driving. When gardening and cleaning, every time I crouch up and down. The dizziness I experience with that is a fuzziness in my vision, my head feels warm and faint, etc.

When walking, it feels mainly like a disorientation or like the room is moving when it isn't. When standing, I go through spells where I feel like I'm almost going to pass out. It's not often though like the other things I mentioned. I remember growing up, experiencing some dizziness when standing up too fast, but all of this seems to be more of a chronic thing now as an adult as well as it seems to be more than just standing up too fast.

Other than making sure I'm eating right, taking garden of life multivitamin every day, and hydrating properly, is there anything else to manage this? I once went to the urgent care for this symptom. They did my lying down, sitting and standing bp. Nothing seemed off. For a long while, I've just been dealing with it and haven't really reported it other than the one visit last year. I went because I almost passed out a few times while standing and talking to someone at work. Is there any other test I should be asking my primary care doctor about?

talk to your neurologist/MS specialist about this. I did to mine and she went on to say that it was fairly common amongst MS patients, and she prescribed meclizine, which works wonderfully.

      My worst symptom

Dizziness and double vision were my first really noticeable symptom though for years I had other things on and off but was able to ignore them and they went away. The dizziness and double vision though were terrible. This was 4 years ago. The double vision went away but to this day the dizziness remains all day every day. I have tried anti vertigo meds, have gone to several ear, nose and throat specialists only to be told it is my MS causing it, I have had a neurologist and 2 MS specialists tell me the same thing. There is nothing I can do to relieve this. I am dizzy all day every day and it is a terrible thing.

This affects my balance and I need to use a cane. I had to stop driving. I wish I could find a way to minimize this but so far nothing has helped and my doctors are very pessimistic about it.

I am sorry you are experiencing this. A lot of people don't realize how disorientating and debilitating it is. It also makes me feel sick a lot of the time. I hope your dizziness abates. Let us know how you are.

Darlin' I know you've read some of my threads so you know how long I've struggled with dizziness or lightheadedness. Just recently I started feeling actually faint and nearly passed out a few times. I have asked and asked for help with this but my doctors don't seem to know what to do. I live in fear of getting dizzy when I'm driving or out anywhere. So I've limited my "out" time. Just becoming a hermit.

Haven't had any tests in a long time. The only doctor who even tried was a heart doctor. I also get palpitations which seem to be benign. But I have several other issues. You really need to have someone look into it because, as we all know, it might not be MS-related. Eliminate all the other possibilities. I am comfortable letting it lay in the MS field. Somehow I don't fear all my weird symptoms that are MS symptoms. It's those other more serious possible illnesses that scare me. Maybe this is backward thinking.

All I can say is that I hate that woozy feeling!

A Primary Care Physician would know what testing may be needed. It might be best if you allow him to do his job rather than telling him what you think should be tested for....just my opinion. There is prescription and OTC medications that might be helpful.

A vestibular therapist can do testing to try to isolate what contributes to it and a distinction between light-headed, dizziness, and vertigo. They are all different and can have different causes. Sometimes even with MS, can be vision related, where eyes don't move/ compensate together and/or correctly, can be eyes ok, but CNS issue. Can be non-MS as well. If they can't help, they will let you know. I have had two types. One type, the exercises work for. But 24x7 vertigo (hand onto wall to walk, on butt up and down steps), only meclizine helped. It didn't alleviate the vertigo, but helped knock me out and with nauseousness.

You have nothing to lose by trying a vestibular therapist. Have posted this frequently.

You need to see an ENT. Not all dizziness is created equal. There is Periphreal and CNS Dizziness. Only one is caused by MS. They have come a long way in diagnosing dizziness. It is painless and easy. They put a "football helmet" on you and it has cameras. They then attempt to make you dizzy with imagery. Your eye movement is recorded and looked at by the doc who can diagnose which type of dizziness you have. Dizziness can be helped in most cases through medication or exercises, but you have to determine which kind you have first.🌷🌷🌷
