So, what's new in the MS treatment world?

So, I don't want to know about the treatments in development, that won't hit the market for 10 years! What does anyone know about any treatments that will be available to the MS market in the near future? I don't hear much 'new and improved' news !

    Hi Jerry,

The next drug to hit the market for MS will most likely be Ocrelizumab. It's shown promising results for both RRMS and SPMS with relapses. Roche pharmaceutical plans on submitting it the FDA for approval early next year. I think my MS Specialist said if FDA approved, it should be available mid 2016.

It is also being studied in the ORATORIO trial for PPMS. Results of this phase III study are expected later this year.

As the old Tom Jones song goes, what's new pussy cat?

They seem to be going through all the drugs that end with "umab".

Pussy cat, pussy cat I love you, yes I dooooo.

I lie awake some nights a wishing and a hoping and a praying that there will be a miracle cure.

Like they had with peptic ulcers - all curable with antibiotics, after so many decades of no-one knowing.
      Could happen.

Thanks for the responses. Think the anti-biotic 'cure' came from a 'vet' who cared for pigs and found that this would work on certain bacteria that also occurred in humans. I keep hoping that the scientists 'cure' a monkey!
