The MSAA continues to offer a program to help patients who need financial assistance for MRIs. They MSAA will help qualified patients afford MRIs to confirm the diagnosis of MS, or to track disease progression. In 2015, the MSAA has increased funding to help even more patients and their assistance program has been renamed the MRI Access Fund. The MSAA can help cover a person's co-insurance balance, or pay for the MRI through contracted imaging centers.
Program applicants must meet income requirements, receive approval from MSAA prior to having an MRI, and cannot exceed one MSAA-funded MRI exam within a 24-month period.
