    Disappointed by my Neuro's staff

When I last saw my Neuro approximately 2 weeks ago I told him I need copies of my medical records to appy for CATASTROPHIC DISABILITIES coverage under the VA. I have had the records for about a week and decided to look at them this afternoon. Am I glad I did. It appears as though the staff just grabbed a portion of my records, made copies and gave them to me. The most important document the one where he formally diagnosed me was not even in the records they have me. The records they gave are not even CLOSE TO BE ALL my records. My file is extremely think. Fortunately he wrote a letter to my PCP letting him know he diagnosed me with MS so I can go by there and get a copy of that.

The worst part is my Neuro's is closed until after the holidays. Oh well I'll make it work. I love my Neuro and he has a new girl working in the office so I guess I should have checked them closer when I picked them up.

Gonna yank yer chain- a new girl in the office- that would be breaking the child labor laws. A new woman in the office? New staff?

if you "love your neuro", overlooking a new staff members mistake may be a small price to pay. give her some time to adjust. (i did the same thing with my PCP)

Funny, my Mom and the girls play cards every Wednesday. That's what they call themselves. My Mom talks about her dentist. She says the girl is really good.

I work in an engineering firm. While there might be an old boys network, the guys there call each derogatory stuff all the time and whatever they settle on at any given moment is considered a term of endearment.

I've been called the girl that works in Engineering before by clients and customers. It's all good as far as I'm concerned as long as I get the pay to go with it. To me, there are bigger things to get bent out of shape over. I don't consider it a slippery slope, as if someone who calls me girl is going to smack me on the behind next. To me it's all in the context and intent. I always give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to semantics, especially older people.

        Your mileage may vary.

At least you love your neuro ...
I find myself thinking more and more about doctor shopping next year

I saw my neuro's assistant (who started at office earlier this year - replacing a fantastic assistant) at the grocery store two weeks ago and we talked about my fav checkout receptionist being 'let go'. So sad. After the fantastic assistant left the only two people i really enjoyed seeing there were her and my massage therapist. Although the new assistant is friendly and efficient it is not the same.

And I was definitely not comfortable with the new front staff today after leaving my massage appointment and having to stop for next month's massage appointment. The one they let go knew that early morning appointments were a no-no for me. She was always so helpful and friendly it was a pleasure to see her. The official reason for her leaving was that she had a 'bad attitude'.

I suppose that I am just getting old - I DO NOT like changes!

Well Temagami to be more "Politically correct" I should have said new young woman. LOL!! Believe me I meant no disrespect. I was just so used to the other nurse knowing exactly what I needed when I called. And yes I will give her the benefit of the doubt. Especially after I sat down tonight to put everything in chronological order and found my Neuro's notes went from one page of notes from November all the way back to two pages from July, then one page from June and one page from May. The most important page, the page where he recorded he diagnosed me with MS was totally missing.

That was the one thing the VA said they needed. So now instead of getting my VA benefits before Christmas I will have to wait until sometime after the first of the year.

But I have all the confidence I the world she will settle into her new position nicely and do very well.

You should have rode with me on the Sexist Express this Thanksgiving eve. Had my cane with me but didn't need any assistance and walking at steady clip. The car conductor offered me his hand so I took it to be polite. When I got up the steps, he slapped my thigh and said, "that's a good girl." Sexism so much better when wrapped up in ADA violation. It was so off the hook it made me laugh.

                Unfortunately

incomplete records, missing reports, etc are very common. I got a copy of my files one time and there were lab reports for other patients. I even had a doctor hand me a lab report and told me to take it to one of the specialists I see - too bad the report was for a different patient!

I guess we should be some what understanding. Can you just imagine the amount of paperwork that flows through a doctors office on a daily office.

As I sit here this morning reading the replies and remembered the nurse that's been there a long time telling me the new "Young Lady" had dropped had dropped my file and papers went everywhere. She assured they recovered all of the documents but now they had to put back in chronological order.

I can tell you that would be an overwhelming task because my file must be at between 2"-3" thick. They don't use clips to hold the documents, the documents are just put in the folder. I dare say that practice will soon change.

As for the guy slapping the thigh of the bus rider that was just rude. I wouldn't do something like that to someone I know. Just a complete lack of respect. You said you sort of laughed and that's understandable. How can someone be so, mmmm how shall I say this, ignorant.
