    Switching plans (not providers)?

OK, I actually tried to resolve this myself rather than harassing you people again. I called my union, who kept insisting that our prescription plan paid for Ty and not BCBS (with the "you're stupid" inflection to boot), BCBS who was "pretty sure" everything would remain the same, and the NMSS.

I want to switch from the HMO to the PPO, I am running out of time for open enrollment and it would make my life so much easier if I could just go to a doctor of my choice without a referral. Any input or experience much appreciated, thanks.

    PPO every time

Just in our experience, my hubby and I, always have picked the PPO since our first single year of HMO, which was a nightmare!!!!!

The PPO costs us a little more, but we feel it's worth the savings in time, frustration and aggravation.

We have also found our "quality" of care from the same providers is more friendly with the PPO, but that could just be because we aren't frantically trying to get into the PCP to go to another doctor.

    Good Luck

We also have never had a HMO don't want the hassle of always having to go to PCP first. . Whatever you decide good luck. You probably also have a larger selection of doctors on the PPO

I previously had a PPO and had no problems with doctors, meds, etc... It was great to make specialist appt. without referrals.
