    Jarisch Herxheimer reaction

Has anyone here ever experienced a worsening of their symptoms, called a Jarisch Herheimer reaction, after having taken antibiotics?

There is interesting research being done by Dr Stephen Fry of Fry Labs in Arizona about new findings of a previously unknown protozoa in patients with...Multiple Sclerosis.

This is an interview with Dr. Fry regarding information he has learned in his 20 years of research:

I'm curious if anyone here has any thoughts on this. I've been told that Lyme (which does incur the herx reaction with antibiotics) can lead to MS. Has anyone here had this response--that your symptoms have felt worse--when taking antibiotics perhaps for other reasons? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Hi,

I know about the Herx reaction because I have a friend with Lyme disease and she gets it with antibiotics.

As for me, I've never experienced a Herx reaction, and I've been on loads of antibiotics.

In fact, I usually feel pretty good on antibiotics, including IV antibiotics. I've been hospitalized a few times for antibiotics when I had a UTI that would only respond to an IV antibiotics. And after a surgery, picked up MRSA and was on hospital, then home IV vanco for 6 weeks. Never had the Herx reaction.

I was tuned in to it too, because I thought, if for some reason they misdiagnosed me with MS instead of Lyme, I'll have a Herx reaction...but it never happened.
