Need New Neuro in Cincinnati Area

My amazing neurologist, Maria Melanson, is leaving Cincinnati for Boston. I need recommendations for a new neurologist in the greater Cincinnati area.

My primary desires are that the new neurologist:

    * Get back to me within a day or two when I call

    * Get me in within a week or less if I'm having an attack and they won't just call in meds

    * Talk to me like a person - I'm very active in my treatment and usually pick out the meds that I want to be on. I don't need someone to tell me all the latest developments, just someone who can read my MRI, tell me in plain english how I'm doing and let me know whether a med I want is what's best for me.

    * Specialize in MS - this isn't a must if they can do the rest of it.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I just moved to the area and was also hoping to see Maria Melanson, so I was unhappy to hear she's moved. Were you able to find a new neuro?

I guess my plan is to make an appointment at the clinic to see one of the other neuros who aren't MS specialists to get established as a patient and hope for the best when they recruit someone new in the fall.

I feel like it will probably be a wasted appointment (especially since I'm stable for now), but I don't want to wait and be stuck with no doctor if I'm having a relapse.

I was Dr. Melansons patient when I lived in Ohio and just received a letter from her. I have since moved to another State...so I am not sure how she found me...but she did.

My letter said, another Doctor, MS Specialist was coming into the Wadell Center. I would call the Wadell Center to see if this is correct.

Why don't you ask the local MSAA or NMSS chapter? I wouldn't take a chance on just any doctor. if the doctor is really interested in this community of MSers, his/her name will be known to the local chapter. Good luck
