    MRI report translation please

"Innumerale focal, oblong and confluent areas of T2 signal noted in the periventricular white matter to a greater degree in the parietal and temporal lobes."

In English, does that say I have bunch (ie, innumerable) of lesions?

This is last year's MRI & I recently requested/received a copy of the report. All Doc told me was that I am "stable". I'm just curious what that sentence means.

    Thank you!

    Basically, yes.

MS lesions are typically located in periventricular white matter, in ovoid forms oriented perpendicular to the ventricle. "Innumerable" does mean "a lot," but use caution interpreting that. Some of my early MRI's done locally said "innumerable." Later on MS specialists declared those same MRI's showed " a relatively light burden of disease."

For me, the MRI's have remained unchanged for 10 years, (whether innumerable or light), so I am "stable" both by MRI and in my clinical status.

If you have a lot of confluent lesions (lesions smashed together) it can be hard to count and often will be called innumerable. Like the other OP said, it can be light or heavy the word itself just means they can not count them.

Ask your neurologist to explain your particular MRI to you since they are the only ones who can see the films.

      Good luck

Always love your answers. They are always so clear and to the point with a twinge of sense of humor unlike my long drawn out textbookish definitions. Thanks. Always look for your comments (a) for my own edification and (b) for your great personality revealed in them.
        Thanks for your insights.
