Otherwise, ask the NMSS as far as MS is concerned.
Good luck. Mine is a great researcher, but a pumpkin head as far as bedside manner is concerned. I don't care, she knows her stuff.

Word of Mouth ...
That's how I found out about my current neurologist. I don't necessarily care about bedside manner, but I do believe one should be thoroughly evaluated on the first visit. My first neurologist was very brief and dismissive.
A family friend who has MS told me about my current neurologist. He is not an MS specialist per se, yet does have a lot of MS patients. My first visit lasted close to an hour, and he was very interested in my history and asked a lot of questions. He had my symptom timeline scanned and placed into my record. My first neurologist wouldn't even look at it.
Best of luck. I once read that as in finding the right mate, you have to go through a lot of frogs to find the prince

When I was diagnosed with MS in 2007, I was not impressed with my MS Specialist who came highly recommended. He had no bedside manner and offered no information to help me understand what was going on.
I changed to the second MS specialist, who had a huge ego, made me wait every visit for over 3 hours before he got to me. and then stopped taking my insurance.
MS specialist #3 was nice, but sort of a "mad scientist" type. Paced around the room, couldn't think of a word he wanted to say and left for 10 minutes then came back with the word. Smart, but weird.
#4 wasn't a specialist, and didn't take much interest.
I say all that to say this. I'm going to go back to Dr. #1 because I have found they are ALL weird, it comes with the territory of their expertise and eduacation. If you find a dr. who knows their stuff, go to them and then rely on their support staff to answer your misc. questions.Donna K: dx RRMS 12/07.
