    chronic insomnia

I've had insomnia for years and I have taken meds for it for a long time... on and off. I suppose insomnia is a by product of MS and other illnesses I have.

If any of you fall into this category can you talk about the sleep meds you take. It seems to be like pulling teeth to get the docs to administer them.

I have some Ambien which I cut into quarters and that's enough to help me thru the night.

    Any other ideas?

The only cure for insomnia is to get more sleep.

My neuro felt that taking diazepam (Valium), with the gabapentin I already take, was better than Ambien.

I rarely used a whole tablet, and it did work well for getting to sleep. OTOH, it did not help when my problem was with waking in the wee hours (never wanted to take more V at 4am!)...
