ok, I was dx with ms, I have been on gabapetin, tegretol, prozac and ritalin.The neuro and I have talked about going on cpaxone, but not yet. Approximately 3 weeks ago began a flare-up. Now the dr. wants me to have another lp. I was a bit over-whelmed at the drs. office. now I wonder why would he want another lp. Is this common?

If you're already diagnosed with MS then there is absolutely no reason to have another LP. Unless maybe he is looking for something above & beyond the MS?
And if you are diagnosed, why hasn't he started you on a DMD? Why "not yet"?

How many MRI's have you had ? The LP isn't the only diagnostic tool that is used. I don't know what the doctor is looking for but you need to ask why you need another LP .

These diagnostic tools mean something to your doctor. You need to ask your doctor what he expects to get out of the LP .
